Mekanica | Medbay WIP

Working on a model for my game project, Mekanica. It's a lifesupport machine used to keep wounded soldiers alive near the front lives. Still a work-in-progress, need to add a few more details, but it's almost there. Just posting this as a bit of a milestone I suppose. Gotta keep pushing.

Breakdown Reel | Halcyon Floppy Disk Ad

The sky before color correction.

Whole 'lotta gradients, whole 'lotta glow. That's how this project came together. I made this breakdown reel of the Halcyon Floppy Disk motion design project I created to show the process I went through to arrive the final product. It was pretty refreshing to be able to show how I did what I did all the little steps that got me there. I hope you can learn something from this video, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to leave a comment! It was super fun making the project as well as the breakdown reel! I might try to make more of this sort of process-revealing stuff in the future. :)

Motion Design | Halcyon Corp. Laser Disk Ad

Save your data. Save the future. 320kbs. The future is here in high capacity storage formats! I love the 80's, including the colors, fonts, technology, music, everything. I tried to fuse as much 80s goodness as I could into this 10 second project I created for my motion design class. We had to create a short product advertisement in After Effects and I opted to kick it oldschool retro. The final video took me about 15 hours to create and I ran into some interesting challenges along the way. I fuzed several different elements of After Effects together, including Trapcode Mir, Particular, Element3d, and a host of the default effects to arrive at the final look. Lots and lots of layers, but nothing says 80's like glowing grids, powerwave music, and neon colors.

The Journey | Waystation Concept Sketch

Colossal robots of a previous Age have become defunct. Now, in the desert, Waystations have popped up, drawing power from the robots and using scrap and salvage to trade with and supply travelers. Nobody has proper tools to dismantle the extremely durable robots, so salvaging is a tough prospect. Still, at the right time of day, the industrial frame creates plenty of much needed shade from the sweltering sun.

This concept started out as a thumbnail sketch in my class notes lined notebook. I took that thumbnail and refined that sketch into a quick painting. Not extremely detailed but enough to get the major points across. I'm still deciding if I want to render this in V-Ray or Unreal Engine 4, both have their pros and cons. In any case, time to get modeling!
